Israeli forces on Tuesday night demolished the homes of two Palestinian terrorists responsible for deadly attacks against Israelis in recent months

The IDF said in a statement that, acting in accordance with directives by Minister of Defense Moshe Ya’alon, it razed the home of Raed Jabara Halil, 36, in the Palestinian village of Dura near Hebron, and the home of Mohamed Abed al-Based Harub, 24, at Dir Smat near Hebron.

Halil stabbed and murdered Reuven Aviram, 51, and Aharon Yesiav, 32, and wounded a third in Tel Aviv on November 15. He was arrested after the attack and now faces trial in an Israeli court.

Harub carried out a shooting attack at the Gush Etzion Junction on November 19, during which Ya’acov Don, 51, an Israeli, Ezra Schwartz, 18, an American Jew, and Shadi Arafa, 24, a Palestinian, were murdered and seven others were wounded. He too, was arrested after the attack and now faces trial in an Israeli court.

The High Court of Justice approved the demolition orders for the houses earlier this month and rejected appeals presented to the court by the terrorists’ families.

The family of the Tel Aviv terrorist claimed that he carried out the attack because he was mentally unstable, but the court ruled that there was no evidence to support this claim, and that his murderous actions were driven by nationalistic motives.

The demolition of terrorists’ homes are meant to serve as deterrence for potential terrorists who are plotting future attacks and are part of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plans to contend with the recent wave of Palestinian terror attacks, which has claimed the lives of 31 Israelis in the past six months.
