Ten members of Egypt’s security forces were killed by two improvised roadside bombs during clashes with jihadist militants in central Sinai, the Egyptian army said on Thursday.Fifteen of the Islamist fighters were also killed, while seven others were arrested in the raid on what the Egyptian army describes as “an extremely dangerous” hideout for Islamist fighters.The security forces also discovered and destroyed half a ton of TNT explosives, and took hold of two four-wheelers with hand grenades, and hundreds of mobile phones.The Egyptian government has been fighting against an Islamist insurgency in the Sinai, led by the ISIS-affiliate “Sinai Province,” that seeks the overthrow and ousting of President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi. The ISIS-affiliated terrorist group also poses a security threat to Israel.
