Ilhan Omar from Minnesota has been quietly deleting tweets this week that contain some of her more outrageous anti-Semitic statements.Omar came under criticism in January for tweets she had made regarding Israel. She then waded deeper into the fevered anti-Semitic swamps in February, tweeting about pro-Israel lobbying group AIPAC (the American Israel Public Affairs Committee) buying political influence, plugging into an age-old anti-Semitic trope about Jews, money and power. In February, Omar tweeted “It’s all about the Benjamins baby,” referring to the $100 bill that features Benjamin Franklin’s likeness. Omar made the reference in regards to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s threat to punish her and her colleague Rep. Rashida Tlaib, (D., Mich.) who had also made anti-Israel remarks. Omar appeared to suggest that McCarthy, a republican from California, was in the pay of the pro-Israel lobby, leaving no doubt as to her meaning when she later clarified by tweeting: “AIPAC!”Read Despite loss to Trump, Democrats still want Harris to run in 2028 The series of tweets led to a storm of criticism, including from a number of members from her own party, among them Chelsea Clinton, who tweeted: “Co-signed as an American. We should expect all elected officials, regardless of party, and all public figures to not traffic in anti-Semitism.”Although Omar later offered an “unequivocal” apology, she immediately criticized AIPAC again, making her apology appear half-hearted. President Donald Trump blasted her apology as “lame” and said she should resign. The tweet about AIPAC has since disappeared from Omar’s Twitter account, @IlhanMN, on Tuesday, but Twitter users began reporting them missing on Sunday, USA Today reported.Ronna McDaniel, chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, tweeted in response: “”Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar is deleting her anti-Semitic tweets. But deleting tweets doesn’t change that she still supports the anti-Semitic BDS movement to boycott and delegitimize Israel.” Democrat Rep.
