Israeli police captured tens of thousands of shekels from the family of a Palestinian terrorist on Wednesday, which law enforcement believe the Hamas terror group paid as a stipend.

The terrorist in question, Alaa Abu Dheim, from Jabel Mukaber, was eliminated during a gruesome attack on Jerusalem’s Mercaz Harav yeshiva in which eight students were killed and another 11 were wounded. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 26 years.

Dheim was killed by an off-duty IDF captain at the scene.

Terror stipends are enshrined in Palestinian Authority law, with NIS 687 million ($198 million) allocated to the “martyrs’ families fund” and NIS 550 million ($160 million) allocated to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club for FY 2017, according to the Israeli Defense Ministry.

Palestinian prisoners who carry out terror attacks and serve 20- to 30-year sentences are eligible for a lifetime NIS 10,000 ($2,772) monthly salary, with prisoners serving shorter sentences receiving less money.

Terrorists who murder Israelis are eligible to receive millions of dollars in salaries throughout their lifetime, and the families of those who are killed committing terror attacks are also eligible for major financial rewards from Palestinian factions.

The Knesset is currently considering a bill that would permit the Israeli government to deduct payments by the PA to prisoners and their relatives from tax revenues Israel transfers to the PA. The funds would instead be redirected to assist terror victims.

The Israeli bill mirrors a similar US law called the Taylor Force Act, which permits the US to cut PA funding if the body continues to dole out stipends to terrorists and their families.
