When he did not arrive on base as scheduled an emergency command center was opened by the police to find the young man.“Throughout the night we’ve conducted a search for the soldier from Kfar Saba, who left his home at 5:30 a.m. and unusually, did not arrive at the base,” said police commander Yekutiel Ben Yaakov. Police tracked Ashkenazi’s cellphone to the Sharon area of Israel.No details as to the cause of death have been released at the time of this report. The military has opened an investigation.His family and friends said that Ashkenazi did not suffer from depression nor have any problems in the army, website BTNews online reports.
