Eden Golan, Bar Kuperstein honored as symbols of courage at United Hatzalah event

In the City of Brotherly Love, hundreds gathered for an emotional evening of song, unity, and solidarity as Israeli singer Eden Golan headlined a special event organized by United Hatzalah of Israel.

The night paid tribute to the courage of first responders and survivors, including Bar Kuperstein, whose extraordinary bravery during the Nova Festival massacre has come to symbolize the spirit of Israel.

Golan, who represented Israel in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with her hit “Hurricane,” brought the audience to their feet as she performed the song live in Philadelphia.

Once seen as a protest anthem against global hostility toward Israel, “Hurricane” has since become a rallying cry of faith and perseverance.

“Since October 7th we’ve all been through a hurricane,” Golan told the crowd. “But we’re still standing — proud, together, and alive.”

Though Bar Kuperstein was not present at the event, United Hatzalah founder Eli Beer spoke movingly about his courage and recovery.

“Bar is a true Israeli hero,” Beer said. “He stayed behind at the Nova Festival to help others, was taken hostage, and today — thank G-d — he left the hospital, escorted by United Hatzalah volunteers who brought him safely home.”

Bar had many opportunities to escape the mayhem early but he remained on the scene attending to wounded victims with the knowledge he had learnt as a United Hatzala volunteer.

Beer went on to recount Bar’s family story, which has inspired millions across Israel and around the world.

Shortly before October 7, Bar’s father, Tal Kuperstein, a devoted paramedic for United Hatzala, was paralyzed in a tragic accident while racing to save a young girl’s life.

Since then, Bar had become the family’s main provider and caretaker — a role he continued with quiet strength until the day he was abducted.

“Bar’s heroism runs in his blood,” Beer said. “Like his father, he never stopped saving others, even when his own life was on the line.”

Indeed, his father had one mission throughout the two years that Bar was held hostage.

To relearn to speak and stand up so that he can greet and stand up and hug Bar when he returns home.

The event also celebrated the mission and growth of United Hatzalah. “When I wanted to start this organization I was told know, but I didn’t listen to those who said no and instead with Jewish chutzpah, I stubbornly went and bought out first radios bought at at Radio Shack and slowly built this organization until it grew to over 8000 volunteers across Israel today. Out strength comes from ordinary people who refuse to stand by,” Beer said.

Beer reflected on United Hatzalah’s mission to save lives without hesitation or boundaries.

“From our first volunteers with walkie-talkies in Jerusalem to over 8000 medics across Israel today — every rescue, every life saved, is a testament to the power of unity,” he told JBN.

The moving event connected the voices of artists, rescuers, and communities standing proudly with Israel.

From Golan’s music to Beer’s tribute to Kuperstein, the message was clear: Israel’s resilience transcends geography — it lives in every act of courage and every song of hope.
