By Dinah Bucholz, Jewish Breaking News Having recently faced accusations from far-right conspiracy mongers over plotting the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Israel now faces accusations from far-left conspiracy theorists over its alleged involvement in ICE shootings in Minneapolis, Minn. Hasan Piker, the infamous streamer who was suspended from the streaming platform Twitch for antisemitic comments, tried to connect the invisible dots. He alleged that Israel gave the Department of Homeland Security the idea to label as terrorists any anti-Israel and anti-ICE protesters. “Two senior national security officials tell me there are more than a dozen secret watchlists that Homeland Security is using to track protestors (both anti-ICE and pro-Palestinians),” he posted. Another person attempting to conflate the actions of ICE and the IDF is far-left activist and former director of congressional and public affairs for the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs Josh Paul, who said, “You have units of a security force that are imposed on the local authorities, imposed on the local police, that engage in checkpoints, detentions, including of children … And it seems to operate broadly with impunity.” Read Majority of antisemitic social-media posts reported by Jewish communities remain online, study findsAnthony Aguilar, a former U.S. soldier who worked for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, had at one time accused IDF soldiers of shooting a child to death, claiming to have witnessed the killing firsthand. That child was later discovered alive with his mother, thoroughly discrediting Aguilar’s account. Aguilar also joined the conspiracy theorists, saying, “It’s kind of every man for himself. They are obviously not operating under any standard operating procedures. This is exactly how the Israel Defense Forces operate in Gaza.” Others have claimed that the fact that ICE maintains offices in Tel Aviv supports the accusation that Israel is involved in U.S. ICE activity. However, ICE has offices and embassies in more than 50 countries around the world. Its foreign affairs activities comprise investigating global crime, such as human trafficking, sanctions violations, financial crimes, and smuggling. There simply is no evidence to tie Israel to ICE’s immigration enforcement activities in the United States. AntisemitismICEIsrael
