IDF shuts down 3 Palestinian weapons-production plants

Israeli security forces uncovered three Palestinian weapons factories and shut them down.

IDF forces on Tuesday night shut down three illegal Palestinian weapons-production plants in the Judea region, the latest phase in the ongoing operation to stem the dangerous phenomenon.

The IDF, working with Israel’s police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), seized five metal-works machines used to produce guns and sealed one of the workshops.

Since the beginning of 2016, in a special effort to stop prolific Palestinian weapons production, Israeli forces have shut down 43 plants in the Judea and Samaria region and seized over 50 machines and at least 450 weapons.

Security forces have arrested more than 160 suspects tied to the production and selling of illegal weapons that were used in many attacks against Israeli civilians.

Most recently, a Palestinian cell that bought weapons parts through the internet and sold them in the Shechem (Nabulus) area was exposed.

In addition, another store, a bridal salon, suspected of receiving and selling weapons parts over the past few years, was uncovered.

In related news, IDF forces conducted counter-terror raids throughout Judea and Samaria overnight Tuesday. They arrested six Palestinians wanted in connection with terrorism and acts of violence, including a Hamas terror group member.
