On Sunday night, Palestinians in Gaza tried and failed to send a rocket into Israel, which reportedly landed back in the strip.

While sirens rang out in the southern portion of Israel, they were not set off within any communities, Times of Israel reported.

This latest rocket launch arrives amid heightened tensions between terror factions in the Gaza Strip and Israel.

Over the weekend Palestinian terrorists fired five rockets at Israel and sent a bomb-equipped drone into Israeli territory, which damaged a military vehicle, but caused no injuries.

The IDF responded by striking Hamas positions within the Gaza Strip, including a naval depot and other locations.

According to the Times, an Egyptian military intelligence delegation was in Gaza on Sunday when the rocket was launched.

Egypt remains a key player attempting to hammer out a lasting truce through which the Hamas terror group will cease provocations in exchange for incentives from Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned the terror group on Saturday that any attempt to harm Israeli civilians or soldiers would be me met with a “forceful response” from Israel.

The rocket and drone attacks were preceded on Friday by a particularly violent day of rioting by Palestinians in Gaza, which resulted in the deaths of two rioters.
