Turkey: Tens of thousands call to ‘hit, hit Zionists’

A mass anti-Israel rally in Turkey showcased a disturbing soundtrack, including a theme song instructing listeners to “hit, hit Zionists.”

Tens of thousands of people gathered in Turkey to denounce Israel following its introduction of security measures at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, which led to widespread Palestinian violence.

Protesters waved Turkish and Palestinian flags Sunday at the “Great Jerusalem Meeting” in Istanbul’s Yenikapi Square, called by the Islamist Felicity Party. Revelers were serenaded with a jingle that included the lyrics, “Hit, hit Zionists.” One banner proudly waved at the event read, “Down with USA-Israel.”

The Islamist party leader, Temel Karamollaoglu, told the crowd that Muslims would not give up on Jerusalem.

The Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), which has been linked to terrorism, also sponsored the event.

“Jerusalem is our heart,” said a 32-year-old Turkish woman, who was at the rally with her 3-year-old baby girl carrying a Palestinian flag, speaking to the Turkish Anadolu news agency.

The woman said she brought her baby to the rally because she believes “the Palestinian issue should be learned from early childhood.”

Tensions in Jerusalem’s Old City have been running high since Arab terrorists murdered two Israeli police officers at the Al Aqsa Mosque, prompting Israel to install metal detectors at the site.

Subsequently, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused Israel of trying to take over the shrine under the pretext of fighting terror.

Israel removed the metal detectors after a week of Palestinian rioting and the terrorist murders of three Israeli civilians.
