US gunman shouting ‘Free Palestine’ kills one at wedding reception

One dead and several wounded after gunman who shouted “Free Palestine” opens fire during a wedding reception at a New Hampshire country club.

At least one person was killed and several people wounded in a mass shooting incident at a New Hampshire country club Saturday evening.

Shots were fired during a wedding reception at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, leaving one man dead and two other people wounded.

Witnesses say the gunman, who was dressed in black and had his face covered, shouted “Free Palestine” and “the children are safe” during the shooting.

The shooting left the roughly 100 attendees at the reception running for cover.

“Getting together for a dance for the bride and groom and then all chaos went off,” Tom Bartelson, a guest at the wedding, said according to a report by WMUR. “We heard about six shots and everybody ducked for cover and next thing you know we’re rushed into safe spots and things like that.”

On Sunday morning, Attorney General John M. Formella and Nashua Police Department Chief Kevin Rourke issued a joint statement, announcing that the suspected gunman had been arrested.

Formella and Rourke said that Hunter Nadeau, 23, opened fire on the wedding reception with a handgun, fatally wounding Robert Steven DeCesare, 59, and wounding two other adults.

Authorities say Nadeau has been charged with one count of second-degree murder and will likely also face additional charges prior to his arraignment at the Ninth Circuit Court in Nashua on Monday.

Senior Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinckley said investigators had yet to determine the motive for the shooting.

“We’re dealing with the facts and the information that we gather. Once we get that facts and information, and have an actual motive that we can share, we’ll certainly do that,” Hinckley said.
