A pipe bomb was hurled at Israeli border police overnight in the Arab neighborhood of Issawiya in Jerusalem. Police on the scene detained two Arabs for questioning, reported the 0404 news website, adding that police sappers succeeded in neutralizing the bomb.

According to the report, exploding firecrackers and stones were also thrown at the Israeli security forces.

A border policeman was lightly hurt, according to 0404, and required medical treatment but was later released.

Earlier on Monday night, two Molotov cocktails were thrown at an Israeli guard post at the Kalandia crossing in northern Jerusalem. The firebombs exploded but no injuries were reported.

Stones and a glass bottle were hurled toward a guard post near the Shuafat crossing in Jerusalem.

Eight “terror activists” were detained by Israeli forces during what was described as an expansive operation overnight in Judea and Samaria. The suspects who were taken into custody are said to be suspected of involvement in terror activity and violent protests aimed at both civilians and security forces.

Security sources note that while each of these incidents might appear small, they show an ongoing effort to maintain a level of violence in the Arab areas of Jerusalem and in Judea and Samaria.

Reports say that security forces confiscated a weapons-manufacturing machine in an Arab village of Samaria, showing an ability to produce “homemade” weapons and carry out attacks without much planning.

Recent attacks have been carried out through a variety of means, from vehicle rammings to stabbings to the detonation of explosive devices.

The IDF said that a makeshift bomb was discovered Monday on a road between the Israeli communities of Itamar and Elon Moreh near Shechem in Samaria.

The highway was temporarily closed to traffic while sappers neutralized the explosive device, according to the military statement.
