Following Tuesday’s shooting attack in northern Samaria, near Shechem (Nablus), during which a terrorist gunned down 35-year-old Rabbi Raziel Shevach, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum issued a laudatory statement on the terrorist organization’s official website.

“Hamas blesses the heroic Nablus operation that comes as a result of the Zionist occupation’s violations and crimes at the expense of our people in the West Bank, Jerusalem and al-Aksa Mosque,” announced Barhoum, according to the Jerusalem Post. Barhoum referred to the murder as “an affirmation that our Palestinian people’s compass is Jerusalem and al-Aksa Mosque and that its choice is the resistance.”

The response is consistent with Hamas’ policy of praising terror attacks against Israeli civilians.

“The Nablus operation is the first practical response with fire to remind the enemy’s leaders and those who support them that what you fear is coming,” said Abu Obeid, a spokesman for Hamas’ military division, Izzadin Kassam, reported the Post.

As of Wednesday evening, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas had not commented on the shooting attack.
