PA forces arrest Palestinian for hosting Israeli lawmaker during holiday

A Palestinian was arrested by the PA for hosting an Israeli MK. The nature of his crime is unclear.

Palestinian security forces on Sunday arrested Muhammad Sabir Jabir, a Palestinian from Hebron, after he hosted Member of Knesset (MK) Yehuda Glick in his home during the recent Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.

A report by the Palestinian Ma’an news agency quoted sources in the Palestinian Authority’s (PA) General Intelligence Agency that said that Jabir was detained for hosting Glick.

The exact nature of the crime of which he is being accused and whether he will face charges remain unclear.

Jabir’s extended family published a statement on Facebook saying that they “disassociated” themselves from him after he hosted the Israeli politician.

Glick posted photos of the visit on his Facebook showing him celebrating the Muslim holiday with the immediate family of Muhammad Jabir in Hebron, writing in Hebrew: “Feast of Sacrifice (Eid al-Adha) at home of my friend Muhammad Jabir in Hebron. God willing we will all live here in peace. Happy Eid.”

He also wrote in Arabic “Happy Eid al-Adha Muhammad Jabir.”

Glick, a vocal advocate of Jewish rights on the Temple Mount, narrowly survived an assassination attempt by a Palestinian terrorist in October 2014. Glick was shot and gravely wounded, while the terrorist was shot dead by Israeli forces a day later.
