The Palestinian Authority continues to bestow plaques upon various honorees that depict Palestinian territory as comprising all of Israel, a phenomenon recently documented by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW).

Among the recent examples of this practice are the PA National Security Forces and PA Ministry of Education distributing honorary plaques with a PA map that eliminates the existence of the Jewish State. District Governor of Ramallah and El-Bireh Laila Ghannam received a plaque like this in mid-January depicting the PA’s Israel-free version of Palestinian borders.

Similarly, at a ceremony honoring students in Shechem (Nablus), PA Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Sabri Saidam posed with an honorary plaque featuring the PA map of Palestine.

This practice is consistent with statements by PA officials describing “Palestinian land” as covering the area “between the [Jordan] River and the [Mediterranean] Sea.”

By way of recent example, Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Revolutionary Council, Majed Al-Fatiani, told PA TV in January, “It is not enough that only the residents of Jerusalem stand against [the occupation] in its streets, alleys, and neighborhoods… . This act needs to spread over all of the Palestinian land between the [Jordan] River and the [Mediterranean] Sea. Our identity is between the river and the sea. Our national popular sovereignty is between the river and the sea,” reported PMW.

Official PA media outlets also promote this message to Palestinian children. For instance, PA TV recently broadcast a song presenting the Israeli cities of Jaffa, Haifa, Safed, Tiberias, and Acre as being located in the “country of Palestine.”
