A Palestinian terrorist stabbed and lightly wounded an Israeli border police officer near the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron on Saturday morning.

The terrorist, Abdallah Alajeluni, 18, from Hebron, was shot dead by Israeli forces.

Police spokeswoman Luba Samri stated that officers manning a checkpoint asked the terrorist to identify himself and then he pulled out a knife and stabbed one of them in the head. The officer was lightly wounded and others opened fire at the terrorist, killing him.

Hamas television reported he was related to one of the terrorists who carried out a car ramming attack last week next to Kiryat Arba, just a short distance from Hebron.

The victim was taken to Hadassah hospital in Jerusalem for treatment with stab wounds to the face.

Hebron has been the site of multiple Palestinian terrorist attacks.

This incident was the latest in a long series of almost daily Palestinian terror attacks, which have plagued Israelis over the course of over six months, claiming the lives of 33 victims and wounding some 400.
