Member of Knesset (MK) Elazar Stern, currently on an anti-BDS speaking tour in the United Kingdom, was warned that he could be arrested on war-crimes charges.Stern is a former general in the IDF.On Tuesday, the Arab Organization for Human Rights in Britain called on police to arrest Stern, claiming he has been implicated in war crimes committed by soldiers under his command. The organization said that since British law permits prosecution of war criminals irrespective of where the alleged crimes were committed or the nationality of the offender, British authorities have a legal right to arrest him and should not refrain from doing so. Stern served in the First Lebanon War and during the Second Intifada. Israel’s Foreign Ministry has asked Stern to keep a low profile and not give any media interviews, and is coordinating with local authorities to ensure his safety.Several other Israeli politicians and leaders have previously been threatened with arrest by anti-Israel organizations operating in the UK, but no arrests have actually been made.By: Yoni Ariel/TPS and World Israel News StaffRead Social media boycott targets film that casts the mother of Jesus with an Israeli rather than a Palestinian actress BDSElazar Sternhuman rightsUnited KingdomWar Crimes
