Assassination or work accident? Hamas commander dies in a mysterious explosion.

A senior commander in Hamas’ Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades was killed by an explosion over the weekend.

Mohammed Al Qoqa, 37, a senior field commander, was killed “in an accidental explosion during preparation work,” according to an official statement by the Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades.

There were no independent sources to confirm the cause of the explosion.

He was reportedly an explosives expert and a member of Hamas’ explosives development unit.

“Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades mourned one of its martyrs from Ash-Shati, western Gaza, who was martyred during preparation work. Ezzedeen Al-Qassam Brigades mourns the death of the Mujahed [Muslim holy fighter], [and] reaffirms the commitment and determination to continue the resistance against the belligerent occupation forces.”

Al Qoqa was buried on Sunday at the Ash-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza in a massive funeral procession orchestrated by Hamas.

According to reports, the terrorist was gravely wounded in the explosion, which caused a massive loss of limbs, and subsequently of blood, from which he later died.
