Jerusalem stabbing victim, father of 4, dies

The victim of a stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem Sunday afternoon has died. He has been identified as Adiel Coleman, a father of four.

Stabbing victim, Adiel Coleman, a 32-year-old married father of four from the community of Kochav Hashachar in the Binyamin region, died of his wounds Sunday evening. He was taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem in critical condition after the attack several hours earlier.

“We regretfully announce that the stabbing victim died of his injuries despite resuscitation efforts and life-saving activities. Shaare Zedek sends its condolences to the family,” the hospital stated.

The terrorist, Abd al-Rahman Bani Fadel, a 28-year-old resident of Nablus (Shechem) and a father of two, was shot and neutralized by security forces at the scene and died shortly afterwards. Earlier reports wrongly indicated he was a Turkish national.

“I praise the police officer who reacted swiftly and killed the terrorist and prevented further injuries,” Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan stated.

Fadel reportedly had a permit to enter Israeli territory. Officials are investigating how the terrorist managed to pass security and reach the Old City.
