Vice President Mike Pence has postponed his upcoming visit to Israel by a day or two. He is now scheduled to arrive on Tuesday or Wednesday instead of Sunday.

Media reports say he delayed the trip due to important votes in Congress on President Donald Trump’s tax reform.

Pence announced in October that he would be traveling to Israel and Egypt in late December. During his visit to the Jewish state, he will address the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, in what will be the first speech by a senior White House official since President George W. Bush spoke in 2008 at an event marking the 60th anniversary of Israel’s independence.

Pence was also slated to meet with the Palestinians in Ramallah, but they said they are boycotting him following the US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
