There were no initial reports of casualties, according to Magen David Adom emergency service spokesperson Zaki Heller.Shortly afterwards, the IAF struck in and around Tehran and the city of Karaj.The Israeli Defense Ministry later confirmed that the Israel Air Force was carrying out reprisal attacks in the Iranian capital city.“For every shot fired at Israel’s home front, the Iranian dictator will be punished and attacks will continue with full force,” said Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz (Likud). “We will continue our actions to defend the home front and defeat the enemy until the full realization of the war goals.”Read WATCH: US Marines board tanker in Gulf of Oman, conduct strikes across IranReports from inside Iran indicate that Evin Prison, used to jail dissidents and critics of the Islamic regime, was hit in the strikes. According to the London-based anti-regime outlet Iran International, several prison staff members were killed.Explosions were also reported at Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps bases in and around Tehran, including the IRGC’s Sarallah Headquarters, used to coordinate the ruling regime’s security operations for the Tehran district.The Sarallah base also serves as the command center for the IRGC’s Basij paramilitary force.“As part of the strike, the Basij headquarters was targeted,” a Defense Ministry spokesperson said. “The Basij is one of the IRGC’s core power bases and is responsible, among other things, for enforcing the Islamic code and reporting civilians who violate it.”Israel also struck the IRGC’s Alborz Corps, the Defense Ministry said.“This unit is tasked with defending several cities in Tehran Province against various threats and ensuring internal regime stability.”“Also targeted was the Intelligence and General Security Police of the Internal Security Forces, which is likewise a component of the Iranian regime’s military apparatus.”Israel has also targeted state media outlets, the Defense Ministry confirmed.
