UN special envoy condemns latest rocket attack from Gaza

United Nations (UN) Special Coordinator Nickolay Mladenov condemned recent Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel, which he said “jeopardize the lives of Palestinians and Israelis.”

In a rare censure of Palestinian terrorism, United Nations (UN) Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov condemned the latest Palestinian rocket attack on Israel.

“I condemn yesterday’s firing of a rocket from Gaza towards Israel,” Mladenov stated on Thursday.

“This is the third such incident in the past 30 days after a period of almost four months of quiet. Such provocations seek only to undermine peace,” he stated, relating only to attacks emanating from Gaza.

The Islamic State (ISIS) affiliate has also carried out two rockets attacks on Israel from the Sinai Peninsula in the past month.

He called on “all responsible parties” to “exercise maximum restraint, avoid escalation and prevent incidents that jeopardize the lives of Palestinians and Israelis.”

Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired a rocket at Israel’s civilian population on Wednesday night. The rocket exploded in an open space, causing no casualties or damage.

It was the second rocket attack from Gaza this week and the fifth attack in the past month. In total, terrorists fired nine rockets at Israel over this time period.
