After the flames: Jerusalem forests show signs of recovery

Nearly a year after devastating wildfires scorched the Jerusalem hills, burned forests are beginning to turn green again, with new seedlings emerging across affected areas.

The 2025 fires destroyed over 25 square kilometers under extreme conditions, forcing evacuations and widespread disruption, though no lives were lost thanks to emergency crews.

Restoration efforts are now entering a new phase as nature recovers, while authorities have moved to restrict Lag Ba’Omer bonfires to prevent another disaster.
