Israel seized 220 illegal Palestinian weapons since beginning of year

Israeli forces confiscated Palestinian weapons and arrested suspects linked to terrorism.  

Israel’s security forces continued their counter-terrorism operations on Sunday night and seized an M16 assault rifle in the neighborhood of Abu Dis in Jerusalem.

In Bir Al-Basha, in the Jenin area, Israeli forces also seized an M16 assault rifle and other improvised assault weapons.

Since the beginning of 2017, Israeli forces operating in Judea and Samaria have seized over 220 firearms and have shut down some 35 illegal Palestinian weapons production plants.

Throughout 2016, in a special effort to stop prolific Palestinian weapons production, Israeli forces confiscated more than 370 firearms and shut at least 36 weapons production plants.

Tens of Palestinian terror attacks have been committed using firearms, many of them self-made.

Israeli forces have arrested more than 160 suspects tied to the production and selling of illegal weapons, used in many cases against Israel’s civilians.

In related news, IDF forces arrested eight Palestinians wanted in connection with terrorism and acts of violence, including one member of the Hamas terror organization.
