Edelstein urged the outstanding soldiers to continue along this path, expressing his concern that youngsters today tend to be less dedicated after completing their military service. ”We are a small country, and who, if not you, outstanding soldiers, should assume responsibility,” he said.”The day after [their military service is concluded] may appear distant, but believe me, it is right around the corner. In [the near future] you will be given the responsibility over all of the Israeli nation’s missions. You will lead the economy; you will advance science; and you will promote literature and poetry. I ask that, particularly when this time comes, you will also excel, because we need outstanding people not only on the battlefield, but also in civil life.”Read Israeli lawmaker who backed anti-Israel genocide charges banned from the KnessetThe 120 IDF soldiers from the army, navy and air force will be further honored on Yom Ha’atzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day, during an official ceremony at the President’s residence on Thursday.
