Security forces arrest Jerusalem terrorist

Israeli security forces managed to capture a Palestinian terrorist who eluded arrest over the last week after he escaped from the scene of an attack during which he stabbed an Israeli civilian.

Israeli security forces on Wednesday arrested a Palestinian terrorist who stabbed and wounded an Israeli in a terror attack last Thursday.

The Shin Bet (Israel’s Security Agency) named the terrorist as Ahmed Naim Ashayer, 20, of A-Tur in Jerusalem.

A police investigation reveals that he attacked his victim at a market with a sharpened wooden pole before fleeing the scene.

The victim, 26, sustained light to moderate wounds to his back and neck.

Ashayer has also been involved in throwing firebombs and shooting firecrackers at security forces during the recent wave of terror, the Shin Bet said.

An Israeli court remanded him for eight days.

The police stated they will continue to use all and any means at their disposal to combat Palestinian terrorism.

This incident was the latest in a long series of Palestinian terror attacks, which have plagued Israelis over the course of 11 months, claiming the lives of 39 victims and wounding over 500.
