1 dead, 4 wounded in Texas shootings

At least three people were wounded and one died in the latest shooting attacks in Texas on Sunday morning.

Terror struck Texas again in the wee hours of Sunday morning when an assailant shot one person dead and wounded at least three others in the city of Austin’s clubbing district. Another attack reportedly took place nearby at around the same time, adding to the confusion.

The first incident began at 2:17 a.m., when a man with a gun began shooting random individuals in a crowded area. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Three others were wounded and transferred to University medical Center Brackenridge. All victims appeared to be in their 20s and 30s.

One of the injured reportedly refused medical treatment.

Austin Police Chief of Staff Brian Manley said that the suspect, who has not yet been identified, could be among the injured.

“It was a very chaotic scene,” he said. “A lot of people running in different directions with all the gunshots coming out.”

Police received several descriptions of the suspect, which were somewhat consistent but not completely, he added. They warned people to stay away from the downtown area.

It appears that the gunman, according to descriptions obtained, was of a dark complexion. Police received several descriptions of the suspect, which were somewhat consistent but not completely, Manley said.
