Assuming the role of president of the United Nations Security Council for the month of April, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said at a press conference Monday that Israel will no longer be at the top of the agenda during her tenure. The role is a rotating one, taken by a different Council member each month.Rather than remaining “so focused on Israel and the Palestinian Authority… we’re actually going to talk about the Iranian support for terrorism, the Syrian government, Hezbollah and Lebanon, Hamas, all of the other issues…“That is our goal in terms of the Middle East open debate,” she said.Haley specifically called for the need to eliminate terrorism in the Middle East, particularly regarding Hezbollah in Lebanon.“We want to get rid of any terrorist activity, any extremist groups that are there,” Haley said. “We think the Lebanon issue is very important…“So much [effort] has been put towards Israel and the Palestinian Authority and not enough has been put towards some of these other issues,” she stated.Read IDF apologizes after Lebanese army post hit amid fighting against HezbollahMost recently, at the annual American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference in Washington, Haley made it known that “there’s a new sheriff in town” who will fight traditional anti-Israel bias at the UN.By: Jonathan Benedek, World Israel News AIPACHaleyHezbollahMiddle EastUnited Nations Security Council
