Two Palestinian terrorists, aged 23 and 38, tried to stab Israeli soldiers at a checkpoint in the Jordan Valley early Saturday and were shot dead by troops at the scene.

The terrorists’ bodies were immediately turned over to the Palestinian Authority (PA).

The incident is the latest in more than three months of near-daily Palestinian attacks on Israeli civilians and soldiers that have killed 27 people, mostly in stabbings, shootings and car-ramming assaults.

Also on Saturday, the Israeli military demolished the home Mohannad Halabi in the Palestinian town of Sudrah near Ramallah.

Halabi, 19, stabbed to death two Israelis, Rabbi Nehemiah Lavi and Aharon Benita and injured Benita’s wife, Adele, and their 2-year-old son in the Old City of Jerusalem early in October before he was shot dead by police.

Halabi has since become a Palestinian national hero, with the PA naming a road and a soccer tournament after him.

Israel security officials say home demolitions are an effective tool to deter future terrorists from executing their deadly assault.
