Medical breakthrough: Israeli doctors rebuild leg with 3D printing

In a groundbreaking first, surgeons at Hadassah Medical Center used 3D printing to reconstruct and lengthen the leg of a 24-year-old woman suffering from a rare “vanishing bone” disease.

Doctors created custom implants to replace her missing hip and femur, successfully lengthening her leg by eight centimeters after a complex operation.

Following rehabilitation, she is now able to walk without crutches—marking a major medical achievement in treating one of the world’s rarest bone conditions.
