Man charged in plot to massacre NY Jews ‘Oct. 7 style’ on Yom Kippur

The suspect allegedly called New York “perfect to target Jews” and planned “slaughter” for Yom Kippur.

A Pakistani national who planned to carry out an October 7-style massacre at a Jewish community center in New York has been extradited to the United States and faces terrorism charges, the US Department of Justice announced on Tuesday.

Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, also known as Shahzeb Jadoon, was extradited to New York from Canada, where he was residing at the time he planned the terror attack.

Khan is being charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization (FTO), the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and attempting to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries.

According to the indictment filed against Khan in the Southern District of New York, Khan appeared to have been inspired by the Hamas October 2023 invasion of Israel, which saw nearly 1,200 people murdered in the Jewish State.

In November 2023, Khan began expressing his support for Islamic terror groups, including distributing pro-ISIS propaganda on social media and messaging platforms.

Several months later, he detailed a plan to shoot Jewish civilians at a Jewish center in Brooklyn, New York, on the first anniversary of October 7 onslaught, saying he would attribute the attack to ISIS.

Unbeknown to Khan, he had shared his plot with two US undercover anti-terror agents. Khan asked the agents to obtain automatic weapons and ammunition to facilitate the attack.

During his discussions with the agents, Khan said he believed that October 7 and October 11 would be the ideal days to target Jews.

On “October 7 they will surely have some protests and October 11 is Yom Kippur,” Khan wrote.

In other conversations, Khan wrote that “New York is perfect to target Jews” because it has the “largest Jewish population in America.”

He added that “we are going to NYC to slaughter” Jews.

“Khan allegedly tried to enter the United States to commit an attack on the Jewish community in New York City, planning an ISIS-inspired mass shooting around the one-year anniversary of the attack on Gaza by Hamas,” said FBI Director Kash Patel, who said Khan would now be facing “American justice.”

“The foreign terrorist organization ISIS remains a clear and present danger to the American people, and our Jewish citizens are especially targeted by evil groups like these,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi, who pledged that Khan would be prosecuted “to the fullest extent of the law.”
