2 dead, 17 wounded in mass clash in Bedouin town

Like in Arab countries, the Bedouin in Israel are loyal to their own clan or tribe and often clash with rivals, even over petty arguments.

Violent clashes between feuding clans in the Bedouin town of Kseife in the Negev on Saturday left two men dead and 15 others were wounded.

One of the wounded is in critical condition and his life is in danger. The rest were in light to moderate condition. All were taken to Soroka hospital in Be’er Sheva.

According to the police’s initial investigation, the violence broke out when members of one family attempted to run over a member of a rival family with their vehicle.

Gunfire was heard throughout the massive street fighting.

A large police force was dispatched to Kseife to quell the violence, restore the calm to the town and arrest those involved in the clashes.

MDA medical teams report that they worked to evacuate the wounded under fire and while wearing full protective gear.
