IDF concludes surprise multi-theater readiness drill

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) wrapped up an unannounced, large-scale exercise on Sunday designed to test the readiness of its command structures and units across multiple fronts.

The drill, launched at 5:30 a.m. under the direction of the IDF inspector general, evaluated the ability of the General Command Center and regional headquarters to respond swiftly to complex, simultaneous threats.

Scenarios incorporated lessons learned from the October 7 attacks and involved nearly all branches of the military, including special forces.

Air Force, Navy, and ground command units operated in close coordination, simulating multi-theater emergencies requiring rapid, integrated responses.

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir visited the Supreme Command post during the exercise, meeting with troops, conducting situation assessments, and reviewing operational procedures. He also held briefings with the heads of the Air Force and Navy.

Meanwhile, Inspector General teams were deployed to multiple bases to oversee training and provide guidance to participating forces.

“The drill is intended to evaluate the IDF’s operational capabilities, the transition from routine to emergency, and the performance of the General Staff and regional headquarters under complex conditions,” the military said in a statement.

The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to bolster preparedness amid heightened regional tensions, ensuring that the IDF can effectively manage simultaneous challenges on multiple fronts.
