President acknowledges that a large number of demonstrators have killed while calling on “Iranian patriots” to “take over institutions.”

President Donald Trump warned Iran on Tuesday that it would face “very strong action” by the US if Tehran executes protesters, a day before the country was slated to hang a man for involvement in anti-government demonstrations.

Last week, pro-regime forces detained Erfan Soltani, 26, sentencing him to death within just two days, relatives told the BBC.

Soltani is slated to be executed Wednesday.

When asked by CBS Tuesday whether Iran had crossed his red line yet, Trump said that he was not aware of the planned hanging.

“But if they hang him, you’re going to see something that…perhaps you will be very happy.”

“We will take very strong action. If they do such a thing, we will take very strong action.”

When pressed to elaborate on his goals for Iran, Trump said that his “end game is to win. I like winning.”

The president drew parallels to America’s recent actions in Venezuela, where the US captured President Nicolás Maduro, and to the targeted killings of ISIS chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Qasem Soleimani.

“When they start killing thousands of people, and now you are telling me about hanging, well, we will see how that works out for them. It’s not going to work out good.”

Hours earlier, Trump announced that “help is on its way” for the anti-regime protesters in Iran, without providing details about the timing or form of the aid.

In a post to his Truth Social account, Trump praised the protesters as “patriots,” and urged them to continue to rally against their government, stating that he has canceled planned meetings with representatives of the Islamic Republic.

“Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers,” Trump wrote.

“They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!!”
