Israel conducts massive strikes against Hezbollah

On Friday, the IDF killed a Hezbollah terrorist in the Froun area in Southern Lebanon who initiated attacks against Israel and IDF troops.

The Israeli Air Force conducted massive strikes on Saturday in the eastern Beqaa area and in Southern Lebanon, targeting several Hezbollah military sites.

In Southern Lebanon, the IDF struck launchers that were “recently identified and placed” in the area, the military said in a statement.

In the Beqaa Valley, Israeli forces struck two sites with weapons storage facilities and additional “military” structures, the statement continued.

“The presence of the launchers and the military activity at these sites constitutes a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said.

On Friday, the IDF killed a Hezbollah terrorist in the Froun area in Southern Lebanon who initiated attacks against Israel and IDF troops throughout the war, the military said in a separate statement.

“The terrorist’s [current] activities constituted a violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” it added.

Israel signed a truce with the Lebanese government that went into effect on Nov. 27, 2024.

The ceasefire came on the backdrop of a military campaign that saw the decapitation of the Hezbollah leadership, as well as the pagers operation that took thousands of Hezbollah terrorists out of action.

The ceasefire remains fragile, however, as it stipulates the obligation of the Lebanese Armed Forces to demilitarize Southern Lebanon and disarm Hezbollah, something that the Lebanese government has been reluctant to do.

A senior Israeli official who spoke with Israel Hayom said the Iran-backed Shi’ite organization is rebuilding faster than Israel’s ability to dismantle it, and that Lebanon’s military is not doing enough.

He added that he does not see the Lebanese Armed Forces disarming Hezbollah and that only the IDF could dismantle the terrorist organization.
