Israel Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon said Iran spends $7 billion on terror activities in a speech to the the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday. Danon talked about Iran’s “coalition of terrorists and how it advances Iran’s expansionist ambitions.”
In informal remarks to the media before his talk, Danon said, “In Syria alone, [Iran] invests $4 billion dollars every year to help the Assad regime, and to establish a base of operations from which to strike at Israel, and to provide support to Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran gives $1 billion in aid to its Shiite proxy. With this money, Hezbollah builds terror tunnels into Israel.”
“We just recently uncovered a sixth tunnel beneath our northern border,” Danon said, adding that Iran also supports Hamas and Islamic Jihad on Israel’s southern border with the Gaza Strip to the tune of $100 million a year.
“With this money Hamas digs attack tunnels into Israel, manufactures rockets, opens terror summer camps, and instigates violent riots along our border,” Danon said.
Fourth military front
Danon later told the Security Council that Iran “is now trying to infiltrate Judea and Samaria. With the help of Saleh Al-Arouri, Hamas’ deputy political chief, and Saeed Izadi, the head of the Palestinian branch of the Iranian Quds Force, Iran is trying to turn Judea and Samaria into a fourth military front against Israel.”
“The world’s silence allows Iran to continue with its operations and aggression to undermine stability in the Middle East,” he said.
Danon also tweeted on Tuesday an illustration of Iran’s financial terror network in the Middle East.
