Ohio synagogue defaced with anti-Semitic scrawling

Yet another act of anti-Semitic vandalism has occurred in the US.

The Agudath B’nai Israel Synagogue in Lorain, Ohio, was defaced with swastikas and anti-Semitic scrawling, the media reported earlier this week.

The vandalism at the more than 100-year-old synagogue occurred on Thursday, though it was first reported on Saturday.

The words, “we will rise and gas you” followed by an expletive were etched into the door under the Nazi symbol.

No other damage was found.

“The act of ignorance, vandalism, and anti-Semitism does not reflect our neighbors in the City of Lorain. We are committed to continue being a symbol of tolerance in this community now and in the future,” the synagogue said in a statement.

Local police are investigating the incident.

This is the latest anti-Semitic incident to be reported in the US after the desecration of Jewish cemeteries in St. Louis, Missouri, Philadelphia and New York.

In Indiana, an apparent gunshot fired into a synagogue Tuesday has drawn the attention of the FBI.

There have been more than 120 bomb threats to Jewish organizations in three dozen states since early January.
