IDF seizes cash rewards from families of Palestinian terrorists

IDF forces carried out raids and seized funds provided by the Hamas group as an incentive to maintain terror-related activities.

IDF forces raided several homes of Palestinian families with links to terrorism in the Hebron area on Wednesday night and seized funds provided by the Hamas terror group as an incentive to maintain a climate of violence.

The raid was part of a broad ongoing counter-terror campaign the IDF is carrying out in conjunction with the Shin Bet (Israel’s security Service) to uproot Palestinian terrorism in the area.

Three of the many families targeted were those of the two Hamas terrorists who abducted and murdered three Israeli teenagers – Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Frankel in Gush Etzion in 2014.

The two abductors, Marwan Kawasme and Amar Abu Aysha, were eliminated by IDF Special Forces in September 2014.

The IDF also arrested Basher Kawasme, Muhammad Kawasme and Ta’ar Kawasme in connection with the kidnappings. Arafat Kawasme, their father, was arrested on charges of aiding the abductors to flee after the attack.

The Kawasme family was enjoying vast sums of money paid to them by Hamas since the terror attack.

The funds are meant to empower families of Palestinian terrorists, raise awareness of the issue on the Palestinian street, and recruit the next generation of terrorists, the IDF explained.

The IDF said it seized thousands of shekels, two cars, and two computers gifted to the terrorists’ families by Hamas.

In related news, IDF forces in overnight raids arrested 22 Palestinians wanted in connection with terrorism.
