Israel strikes Hamas targets in response to rocket attack

The IDF bombed Hamas targets in Gaza in response to an earlier rocket attack on Isreal.

The IDF bombed Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip on Saturday in response to a rocket attack by Gaza-based terrorists on Israel earlier in the day.

Israel’s Air Force (IAF) and an IDF tank targeted two Hamas positions throughout the Strip, the IDF said in a statement.

“The IDF holds Hamas responsible for all attacks at Israel from the Gaza Strip,” an IDF spokesman stated.

The strikes were a response to a rocket fired by Palestinian terrorists at the Hof Ashkelon Region near Gaza on Saturday, which set off alarms and then exploded in an open space, causing no casualties or damage.

Israel has recently adopted a policy of responding to every rocket attack from Gaza, holding the Hamas Islamic terror group, which rules Gaza, responsible for all attacks emanating from its territory.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but a Jihadist group that supports the Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for previous such attacks.

The last such incident occurred on Thursday. This is the 11th rocket to be fired at Israel in the past month.

Since Operation Protective Edge in the summer of 2014, there have been multiple rocket attacks from Gaza. Over 50 rockets have exploded in Israeli territory.
