Palestinian terrorist kills 2, wounds 6 in Jerusalem shooting attack

As the world obsesses over Israeli construction in Samaria, Palestinian terrorists continue to kill and injure innocent Israeli civilians – with little response from the international community.

A Palestinian terrorist shot and killed two Israelis and wounded six others in a terrorist attack in Jerusalem on Sunday.

The Palestinian terrorist, sitting in a car, drove up to a light-rail station and opened fired on the commuters, seriously wounding one woman in her 60s.

The station is situated adjacent to the Police National Headquarters and has been the site of several Palestinian terrorist attacks.

The Palestinian terrorist continued to drive towards the Shimon Hazadik neighborhood, during which he shot and wounded a woman while she sat in her car.

He continued to drive while being chased by policemen on motorcycles. At this point, he encountered a special police unit. A gun battle ensued, during which one of the policemen was seriously wounded and the terrorist was shot dead.

Emergency medical services evacuated eight victims – two critically wounded, three moderately wounded, one of them with gunshot wounds to his legs, and three in light condition.

The two victims, the 60-year-old woman and a border policeman who were critically wounded at the scene, died shortly after.

Four others were treated for shock at the scene of the attack.

The terrorist was found to be carrying a hand grenade, a knife and three gun magazines.

The police has placed a gag order on further details of the investigation such as the terrorist’s identity and the weapon he used.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lauded the security forces for their prompt and professional reaction, which prevented further victims.

Hamas spokesman Fauzy Barhom justified the murderous incident, saying it was a “natural response” to the “continues crimes against the Palestinians and the Al-Aqsa mosque [on the Temple Mount].”

Minister of Internal Security Gilad Erdan blamed Palestinian incitement, and especially social media, as a cause for the recurring Palestinian terror attacks on Israeli civilians.

He also said that the terrorist had Israeli citizenship and was a resident of Jerusalem.

Israel’s security establishment is on high alert amid recent attacks in the capital and amid the Jewish New Year holidays, which security forces feared the Palestinians would try to disturb with attacks – fears which have in fact materialized.

This incident was the latest in a long series of Palestinian terror attacks which have plagued Israelis over the course of a year, claiming the lives of 41 victims and wounding over 550.
