On Tuesday, 34-year-old singer and rapper Azealia Banks choked up during a livestream of her visit to the memorial for the victims of the Nova music festival massacre, set up at the scene just outside Kibbutz Re’im in southwestern Israel. “All of these people were just enjoying themselves at a festival…and then just massacred,” Banks said during her visit. “Oh my God, wow.” During her visit, Banks took aim at anti-Israel DJs, noting that the victims of the massacre included DJs performing at the festival. “All of you f***ing stupid-a** DJs [who] supported this… Imagine if this would have happened to one of y’all. Y’all are dead wrong.” Later that day, Banks penned a series of posts on X excoriating antisemitism and linking support for Israel to support for Jews. “Anti-Semitism is so medieval,” she wrote. “Another reason I’ve been so stuck on anti-semitism is because there is no possible way in HELL you can be anti-Semitic and not also be a f***ing racist. There’s no way in hell you hate Jews and don’t also hate black people.” Read Hamas leader denies targeting civilians on Oct. 7“Anti-semitism is really brolic racism with schizophrenia on meth and steroids.” Banks also uploaded a photograph of herself wearing a Star of David necklace to her Instagram account and penned several posts in Hebrew to her X account on Wednesday. “Being Pro-Palestine in music means you support murdering Dj’s during the middle of their sets and support the sudden massacre of fans in their vulnerable blissful music euphoria state,” Banks wrote on Wednesday. “Being Pro-Palestine in music literally Means you think it’s okay for your fans to be raped murdered at your concert as an act of resistance. Pro-Palestinian Musicians are Anti-Audience and should be boycotted.” “Pro- Israel is pro Yehudi [Jewish].” Banks is slated to perform in Tel Aviv on Thursday at the Ganei Yehoshua HaYarkon Park as part of her solidarity visit to Israel to mark the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks. Announcing the trip last week, Banks said she would visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem and mark the October 7 anniversary as a day of “deep remembrance – honoring every life taken, every family touched.” azealia banksNova music festivalOctober 7th
