In the 2016 presidential election, 70 percent voted for Hillary Clinton. Democrats took over the lower branch of Congress on Tuesday, defeating their Republican counterparts with 223 seats over 197. In the Senate, the Democrats fell short of taking over the majority by a count of 51 to 44.Tuesday’s elections saw a strong showing for Jewish candidates.
