Security Council condemn Tuesday’s rocket strikes from Gaza.By World Israel News Staff Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon is demanding that the U.N. Security Council condemn Tuesday’s rocket strikes from the Gaza Strip into Israel.“These rocket attacks from terrorist organizations threaten the lives of nine million civilians. Instead of calling on all parties to exercise restraint, we expect the UNSC to clearly and unequivocally condemn the terrorists responsible. It is time for the international community to realize that its silence is a prize for terrorism,” said Danon.“Israel is not interested in escalation but will counter its campaign against terrorism with determination and strength,” the ambassador added. Massive rocket barrages were being fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip since Tuesday morning, with Israelis running for cover in southern and central parts of the country, with air raid sirens sounding in the Tel Aviv area and localities closer to Gaza. As of 4:00 p.m. Israel time, approximately 160 rockets have fallen on Israel. The IDF estimates that the violence will continue for several more days.Read UN removes anti-Israel 'peace quilt' from exhibitAn eight-year-old girl was reported in serious condition after collapsing while running for cover when a siren sounded in her city, Holon, south of Tel Aviv.Preemies at Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon were evacuated from their ward to an underground facility to ensure their safety amid the Gazan rocket attacks.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says that Islamic Jihad leader Baha Abu Al Ata, killed by Israel in a targeted airstrike in the Gaza Strip early Tuesday morning, was a central terror figure, responsible for the launching of “hundreds of rockets” into Israel, and a “ticking time-bomb” whose plans to attack again made it necessary for Israel to kill him first. The Islamic Jihad terror leader reportedly had purposely been surrounding himself with civilian ‘human shields’ to exploit Israel’s hesitancy to strike at civilian targets. But Israeli intelligence was said to have gained information that he would be virtually alone early Tuesday, and therefore it was determined that it was the time to strike.
