By Lauren Marcus, World Israel News The U.S. and Israel are gearing up for retaliatory strikes launched by Iran, after the American military “totally obliterated” key nuclear sites in the country. Shortly after the strikes, Trump warned against Iranian retribution on his Truth Social platform. “ANY RETALIATION BY IRAN AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WILL BE MET WITH FORCE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS WITNESSED TONIGHT,” Trump wrote. Despite the warning, Iranian officials pledged that they would attack U.S. military assets in the region in response to the strikes. Iran lacks the offensive capabilities to reach the U.S. and could not carry out an attack on American soil, so Tehran is limited to targeting U.S. troops and bases in the Middle East. “Following America’s attack on the Fordow nuclear installation, it is now our turn,” Hossein Shariatmadari, editor of the regime-controlled Kayhan newspaper and a close confidant of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, wrote on social media platform Telegram. “Without hesitation or delay, as a first step we must launch missile strikes on the American naval fleet based in Bahrain and simultaneously close the Strait of Hormuz to American, British, German, and French shipping,” he continued. Israel’s Homefront Command tightened existing wartime restrictions on the general public, banning gatherings, closing businesses except those deemed essential, and suspending all educational activities.
