The United States and Iran have both signaled their readiness to reboot negotiations, with talks potentially beginning in the next few days, according to multiple reports.

On Sunday, Axios published a report citing a senior US official who said that the Trump administration has sent overtures to Tehran through multiple channels recently, indicating it is ready for a meeting with Iranian leaders.

Two regional sources said that Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar have been working to organize a meeting between White House special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and senior Iranian officials in Ankara sometime this week.

“It is moving,” one official said. “We are doing our best.”

A day later, an Iranian outlet linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported that negotiations could start in the next few days.

Tasnim, a mouthpiece of the IRGC, cited several senior Iranian officials who said that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi could meet with Witkoff in the near future.

“The possibility of the start of negotiations between Iran and the United States in the coming days has been confirmed,” one source said.

Russia said Monday that it is also working to de-escalate tensions in the region, with the Kremlin reiterating its offer to Tehran to store Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium in order to facilitate an agreement between the US and the Islamic Republic.

A spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry downplayed concerns Monday of a possible conflict with the United States, telling reporters at a press briefing that fears of a new war were exaggerated.

“Do not worry at all,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said.

Baghaei also hinted at the possible resumption of talks between Iran and the US in the near future.

“Countries of the region are acting as mediators in the exchange of messages,” Baghaei said.

“Several points have been addressed and we are examining and finalizing the details of each stage in the diplomatic process, which we hope to conclude in the coming days. This concerns the method and framework.”
